Welcome to my worst nightmare…

The Sims 2: Family Fun Stuff is the first release officially published under the The Sims 2 “stuff pack” line of products, and was released on April 13, 2006 for PC and on April 30, 2007 for Mac. This pack adds gameplay elements introduced in previous expansion packs and mainly focuses on objects for Sim children’s bedrooms including medieval and underwater themed bedroom sets. Also included is a nautical themed living room set. New outfits and costumes are available for every age group. The Sims 2: Family Fun Stuff also includes three new pre-made houses and several new songs under the “Pop” category performed by the band Barenaked Ladies. It includes 42 items and is the only stuff pack with an available update patch.

Features
* Indulge your Sims’ imaginations with fantasy-themed furniture, a complete underwater kids’ bedroom set, or nautical-themed living room furniture.
* Hang loose in Hawaiian style clothing or bring out the kids’ adventurous side with exciting costumes.
* 60 all-new items for your Sims to join in on all the family fun!

When I first installed this pack, it erased all my downloads… at the time I probably had around 20,000 downloads in the game. All gone!!! I had a back up but it was not a recent back up so most of our sims looked weird and at this stage we chose to re-do a whole new neighborhood with a note to self: BACK UP DOWNLOADS FOLDER!!!

The Sims 2: Family Fun Stuff pack is the only pack that I was never able to install.  Something in my 40,000 downloads folder must have been conflicting with it, I will never know.  Even with the patch it did not work. I tried to re-install my downloads little bit by little bit but it still did not work so in the end I gave up :(

The Sims 2: Family Fun Stuff pack“Before issuing this pack of new items for Sims game, Maxis ran several surveys on their web site. The question always was would you spend 14.99 for 40 items or 19.99 for 80 items. Somehow they decided on 60 items for 19.99. How they decided on that I don’t know.

Second, there is every indication that most of these items should have been and would have been part of the Open for Business expansion pack until EA got greedy and decided to release this as a separate set.

Clue number one: Open for Business was the first expansion pack to only require one disc instead of the usual two. Why? Do you really need me to answer that?

Clue number two: in Open for business there was a “Fantasy Items” folder but only a very few items for it in the expansion pack. All of the Fantasy items for that folder are in this twenty dollar rip off.

To make matters worse, this pack was released with a major bug in it where if you dress your Sim in CAS then insert them into the game, you lose all of the new clothing items from the Family Fun Pack. A patch has yet to be issued. (04/22/2006) It seems more and more software developers are using their customers as beta testers.

I know that EA poured a massive amount of money into The Godfather game, but it would seem as if they are trying to recoup some of that investment from the loyal Sims players who have supported all of the expansion packs. Well, not this guy from Maxis takes advantage of loyal sims players review…”
