Pets have motives similar to the Sims except for the “Environment” motive which has been replaced by “Scratching” for cats and “Chewing” for dogs.

Pets can have jobs and a choice of three career paths: Security, Showbiz and Services.

Pets are able to breed. The maximum number of pets in a household is six. A litter consists of 1-4 puppies or kittens. With vampires in Nightlife, zombies from the beginning of the series, and now we have werewolves! To become a werewolf, a Sim must build up a relationship with a wolf that has glowing eyes (the werewolf pack leader). The pack leader will eventually bite the Sim it was interacting with, causing it to become a werewolf. Once a Sim has become a werewolf they may bite another Sim to turn them into a werewolf.

Werewolves are not featured on the Nintendo DS, PlayStation 2, GameCube or Wii versions.

The womrat is a replacement for the Guinea Pig in The Sims 1 game. Its new cage prevents it from biting or escaping. The womrat cannot be sold back to any Sim pet store, and has to be set free instead. If you want to avoid grumpy Sims, do not keep the womrat in the bedroom as the womrat will be running on its wheel and squeaking and will wake Sims up…

I was never a big fan of The Sims™ 2 Pets Expansion Pack.  Although Pets are cute, they can be quite an annoyance.  They dig holes anywhere, pee anywhere, scratch the furniture…
My daughter loved Pets, all her Sims families had some and she loved to breed them. Though I did have a cat and a dog for my Lara Croft… But I like my Sims to have a bird because a Sim will actually gain Charisma points – somewhat quickly, and gain a Social meter boost and Fun…  And to avoid the neighborhood’s dogs digging holes I had to put fences around my Sim’s houses.

OFB (short for Open for Business) brings a new neighborhood the Shopping District called Bluewater Village which is also the name of a British shopping center.

Major additions are businesses and talent badges. Also now we can build elevators in homes and community lots. New business-oriented things like cash-registers, shelves, elevators, and crafting centers that Sims can use to create things to sell.

New npc’s: reporters & barbers.

Also is the addition of the Servo, a household robot, which can perform basic tasks and function like a Sim. Servos also appeared in the original game’s expansion pack The Sims: Livin’ Large.

The talent badges include:

• Sales: The ability to convince a customer to buy an item. A successful sale will raise the sales bar, which, when full, will cause the customer to buy the item. The sales can be accepted or rejected depending on customer loyalty, mood, and the badge level of the salesman. The different actions include the basic sale, the cheap offer, the “hard sale”, and the dazzle. The higher level sales have better pay offs, but more serious consequences. A salesman can also select a customer that looks confused, and use the “Sales… May I Help You?” command. This badge is raised by using a sale interaction.

• Register: The register badge affects how quickly an employee can ring up a customer. With this badge the process will take less time, and reduce the chance that customer loyalty will be lost by long wait times.

• Restocking: The restocking badge affects how quickly an employee can restock an item before it has been purchased. This is raised by restocking items.

• Salon: The salon badge increases the chance that an employee in a barber shop will successfully cut hair. Bad haircuts reduce customer loyalty.

• Flower Arranging: It allows a Sim to make a bouquet of flowers. The flowers are then sold, given as gifts, or used to improve the room score. A higher level badge increases the types of flowers that can be arranged.

• Robotics: It allows a Sim to make robot toys and devices. The robots are then sold, given as gifts, or used for fun and services. A higher level badge increases the types of robots that can be built.

• Toy Making: It allows a Sim to create toys. The toys are then sold, given as gifts, or used for fun by children. A higher level badge increases the types of that can be built.

With OFB it is all about getting good ratings to get a successful business and get good critiques…

The cash register is one of the talent badges I would work on first because sims customers get really aggravated when your cashier takes forever to charge an item and often leave the shop angry which affects your business ratings.

If you have University, customers will often start pillow fights in the store which can also affect your business ratings.

The Nightlife ep brings sims a new Neighborhood: Downtown and with it comes a lot of new activities such as bowling, karaoke, dining, dancing, line dancing  a photo booth and dating.  And there is over 100 of new objects. Sims romantic attraction is now based on personality, life aspiration and zodiac signs.  The prima guide actually lists which zodiac signs get along well but take it only as a guide though it might be a bit more difficult to create relationships for some.

But best of all Nightlife gives sims CARS!!!  So you can build driveways and garages. Sims can install an alarm in the car, take kids to school and go to community lots. Sims will not rely on the work car pool anymore as they can drive to work. For a bit of fresh air, you can send your sim for a ride while you attend to your other sims for instance.  You can also woohoo in the car… or just listen to the music…

New NPCs include DJs, a Gypsy Matchmaker & NPCs Vampires, the count and the Contessa.

New creatures are vampires.

Personally, I liked the introduction of the new objects and the new social interactions made available but I was never a big fan of University and it is my least favorite ep.
Unless you use cheats all the time, it seems that sims only have time for studies – well yes, I know,  it is a university…. lol but I just got bored with it I suppose and never ever finished a major so none of my sims got to graduate .

But just for the  new additions TS2 University brings to the Sims 2 game, it is well worth getting it.

What is new with University?
The big change is the addition of university neighborhood and a new age group: the young adults. When kids turned into teens, you have now the choice to send them to Uni where they become young adults.
With University sims have now lifetime wants and they can influence people.
New careers: natural scientist, paranormal, show business and artist (only if a sim finished college).
New creatures: Zombies
You will also find new NPC’s such bartenders, cafeteria workers, cheerleaders, coaches, dormies, evil mascot, mascots, professors, streakers…
University also brings in new instruments such as guitar, drum kit and bass and allow sims to play together and even earn tips when playing in front of an audience. What I used to do is always put all the instruments on a stage in a park as it made sims happy to play there especially when they are stressed. (I only use cheats when desperate.)
Also lockable doors were a cool addition.
Sims can now prank other sims and have pillow fights. the pillow fight became a bit annoying because sims would just start one anywhere for no reasons at all. Especially when OFB came out it was very bad for your business but luckily a cheat came out to stop that.

I uninstalled Bon Voyage but there are some really cool new things that I really want to try out  so I decided to re-install and uninstall all my downloads…:( very very sad day for me….

Since I lost my game once again and I am tired of having to re-do a whole new neighborhood as we also use custom neighborhood designs… and re-create new good looking sims with “normal” names to populate the new neighborhood, new lots…it takes  forever! So for once I decided to play in Pleasantview with the original people and re-introduced my downloads bit by bit.

It is quite amazing how such a great game with such great graphics and great possibilities can have such ugly sims!!! lol This is why we have so many downloads in our game because most of everything that is Maxis original is so ugly… Even though it is quite interesting to play with the Goth, Caliente & Lothario families…I first had to do something about their look…

So the first thing I re-installed was the hairstyles and some of the clothes…. and I gave a make-over to all those sims…they now look a bit better… well except a few where there is absolutely nothing you can do to make them look at least normal. I will take a few pictures of the before & after and post them when I get a chance. But right now I am off playing…

Unless you have no custom contents in your game then you are less likely to encounter problems. But if you do have c/c then wait for a new patch, if a better one than the current one ever comes out! And hopefully the newly announced next ep will not have that many bugs!
My game kept crashing so I had to uninstall it and play without my downloads and this is not fun for me!
But of course, I cannot not play without the latest expansion so will have to find a way….
